Silas's Spring Field Trip
Today was Silas's spring field trip to Plumpers Pumpkin Patch! They have been learning all about plants for the past couple weeks and so we headed out to the pumpkin patch to help plant next years pumpkin fields. We lucked out and did not get rained on but it was pretty cold and super muddy (not that Silas minds that :) We went for a hayride, checked out all the animals, had a lesson about bees and pollination then headed out to the fields to plant our pumpkin seeds!
It has been so fun listening to the boys talk about it all afternoon. I just overheard Silas telling Noah all about the bee hive and Noah was asking him lots of questions about it. Then he said "but Silas, did you have fun at your field trip" and Silas said "yeah, it was so much fun" and Noah said "good, I had a fun day at school too!" LOVE!!!

The Noodle with Juice
A couple weeks ago Silas got sick, and I don't mean his usual snot cough etc. He had some kind of stomach bug or food poisoning or something and went almost four days with not more than a couple crackers and a little bit of juice... On the fourth day I took him to the doctor and they said try popsicles and pedialite and lets see what happens. Later that afternoon he had eaten not quite one popsicle and was still refusing to eat or drink anything with the added bonus of not wanting to stand or wake up. I rushed him back to the doctor and they decided that he was dehydrated enough to warrant an immediate IV right there in the office. The little dude was a champ, he never even cried and watched the whole time they were putting the needle (aka noodle) in his arm and was fascinated by the juice that was making his arm not thirsty any more :) He took almost an entire bag of fluids then came home, went straight to bed, slept 14 hours and woke up the next day ready for breakfast and full of energy, like nothing happened!
He wanted me to take pictures of the whole thing so he could show his brother how brave he was when he got home :)

It took well over an hour, we read lots of books and had frequent visits from his doctor and all the nurses :) |
Showing off his giant bandage where the noodle and juice went in, such a little trooper! |
